Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta has confirmed that comments by Lautaro Martinez were aimed at Hakan Calhanoglu.
The Nerazzurri President spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after today’s 0-2 loss to Fluminense in the Club World Cup. He also addressed the possibility that Calhanoglu could leave.
Lautaro Martinez did not mince words with his words after today’s Club World Cup loss to Fluminense.
The Inter Milan captain insisted that “anyone who wants to leave, should leave” in his comments after the match.
This may partly have been a reaction to the result. Clearly, Inter were frustrated after a surprise exit from the Club World Cup.
However, at the same time, it was hard not to read between the lines of the Nerazzurri captain’s outburst.
First of all, coach Simone Inzaghi left Inter at the start of this month. He did so to chase big money at Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.
Then, in the last few weeks, Hakan Calhanoglu has been at the centre of transfer rumours. There are some reports that the Turkish international is pushing for a transfer to Galatasaray.
Inter President Marotta Confirms: “Lautaro Comments Were Aimed At Calhanoglu”

After the comments by Martinez, Inter President Marotta said that “these are the words of a captain.”
“There are some suppositions, and some truths that I’m underlining.”
“It’s something I always say,” the Nerazzurri President continued. “That when a player no longer wants to be somewhere, it’s right for them to go.”
“To date, no one has expressed such a desire.”
Marotta admitted that “I imagine [Martinez] was talking about Calhanoglu.”
The Inter President then said that the club “will talk with [Calhanoglu] and find the best possible resolution.”
Marotta added that Martinez’s words “are something the club shares, in a winning spirit that can take us far.”
Meanwhile, Marotta added that Inter “must always thank” Calhanoglu for what he has contributed.
“Today, the transfer window officially opens. And we have to have strong positions.”
The Inter President made clear that Calhanoglu “hasn’t expressed anything to us at the moment.”
‘But we’re ready to listen to him. And to all the other players.”
“For now no one’s said that they want to leave,” said Marotta.
SHUT UP
please act like a president and calm the squad. wtf r you doing in fueling the fire? whilst inzaghi on the other side enjoying his money and new life at new club. wake up and fix the internal problems, because it seems really not okay, we are going down sooner if the root of the problems cannot be solved!
the solution is easy
just sell hakan problem solved ,besides as lautaro said he dosent want to play for us anymore
we have Sucic
Marotta let Inzaghi leaves for free when he had 1 years left on his contract. Inazghi 4 Man city 3, Marotta LEAVE the club.
marotta is the best thing that happen to the club since he joined. we would either be in further debts or not be competing for titles without him.
realistic inter fan? f no. you are just a SAD naysayer that would find anyone to blame. even if inter wins a match 30-1, I’m pretty sure you will find a way to thrash the player that didn’t score a hattrick, and the goalkeeper/defence that “leaked” in that one goal.
You are a disgrace! Inzagji won against man city. You are a disgrace Marotta
shut up you inzagi sucker,go suport your saudi club and dont come back here
so what?
go and be a fan for Al Hilal. They have a coach, top management with lots of money, good players. all they need is dedicated fans like you. just goooo. we will be in serie c next season, so you should hurry
Hakan has been great when fit. But he is over 30 and the injuries are coming more frequently. We will miss his amazing penalty taking skills and shooting but at his age of he is going to cash in on the last few seasons of his career it’s now. Thank you if you go. Thank you if you stay and win us the league.
Either way, thank you Hakan.
I’m glad inter lost today tbh because they would have gotten another 5-0 lost or worse Playing like that against man city I just hope they surprise everyone this season for all the haters, well said Captain don’t want anyone holding back the team because if they don’t win anything next season I’m going to hate football for life Forza inter
good if he wants to leave let him leave, it would be a dream come true if they can bring in a very good replacement like Atalanta’s ederson and maybe paz from como but only if they can afford them
So Marotta is practically confirming that indeed Hakan wants to go or at least is seriously thinking about it.
He should leave. I’m thankful for what he has done for us but he can leave if he wants to. Inter will always be Inter regardless of who is at the helm. Thank him for his services and let him move on. We need persons who are dedicated to this project.
fucking Izangi is using 5 4 1 wth Al hilan
Manc city 1 Inzagji 2
Man city 1- Inzaghi 2
What does that have to do with us? Also he was using a 4-2-3-1 with actual wingers and skilled players. A formation he never used at Inter. Inzaghi is a clown!
