Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram have reportedly smoothed over tensions after some hard feelings following the Inter Milan captain’s outburst.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez made plenty of waves with his recent comments.
Speaking frankly after Inter’s Club World Cup exit against Fluminense, the Argentine implored “whoever wants to leave, leave.”
This was a thinly-veiled dig at teammate Hakan Calhanoglu.
However, the Turk was not the only player in the Inter squad who took Martinez’s words harshly.
Lautaro Martinez & Marcus Thuram Smooth Over Tensions

Yesterday, Inter coach Cristian Chivu brought the whole squad together for a meeting. The aim was to clear the air following Martinez’s comments.
And Marcus Thuram was reportedly one of the players to take the most issue with what Martinez had said.
This had naturally led to some worries that the rapport between the two strikers could become frayed.
However, according to the Corriere, Martinez and Thuram smoothed over the tensions yesterday. They discussed their issues frankly, and then had a cup of coffee together before leaving on their vacations.
just sell lautaro now , when we can have good money for him. he will ruin the locker room. he misses chances.
These diva players need a roy keane in their life.
i just dont understand about why there are people offended with lautaro’s words
he never call other players bad or trash
whoever wants to leave just leave. even if i were hakan, i wouldnt be offended, its just a statement saying that he needs you badly if you dont want just leave so that we can find other players. its just crazy thinking a guy get offended by those words.
please anyone care to explain to me, if you were hakan, why would you feel offended by those words?
Cause he say it publicly after a lost, it’s like he blame the lost to the player that wanted to leave even though Hakan actually doesn’t play in that match at all, plus the correct way if a real Man have a problem with teammates say it to his face not in the media cause by doing that create controversy, people now attacking Hakan in social media and people who like Hakan also attacking Lautaro do we need that?
In reality, as an Inter fan, I would like Inter to sell Lautaro because it is hard to see how he misses golden opportunities up front.
Good for lautaro. Fuck you if you get sad he didnt even say anything to anyone specifically.
Maybe we needed this kind of captain, like old school, Maldini, Puyol, Zanetti.. Not too harsh like Roy Keane, but also not pussying about to tell the team about how they underperforming
Zanetti led by example would never open his mouth like this. But I like that Lautaro did this, it matches the expression on his face, he’s a young captain and he’s not generally impulsive. It could be viewed by a bad moment but I just view it as an acceptable and honest moment.
why would zanetti open his mouth when the entire squad behaved like captains?
cambiass samuel Cesar cordoba maicon chivu stanko and then came wesley eto milito and pandev with lucio.
that unit wasnt just players. they were warriors.
unfortunately what we saw vs paris was just a bunch of chicken afraid of the wolf who smelled the blood.
what lauti did was right. and i condone it due to the 1) lack of performance whether due to fatigue or motivation. 2) minds being elsewhere.
also we had moratti who was like a father to them giving every moment at the stadium or training ground.
cannot compare really.
forza capitano
Lol.. you remember Zanetti with the 2010 squad and not when he with cuper squad or even earlier.. he never PUBLICLY called out teammates in media and most likely called them out face to face and that’s why teammates and rival respect him
i agree with you. but in reality noone can be compared to zanetti. truely one of a kind. but i still stand with what lauti did. this is a different generation and sometimes being harsh is what sets the tone straight.
Well the comparison was made. And I think if Zanetti was in our current team he would show his captain traits in the way he played, he 100% would not have made the comment Lautaro made publicly.
True but there’s no doubt out of all players he fought from minute 1 up until Inter were eliminated. In midfield Barella was overwhelmed with the responsibilities to create anything and it’s not fair to blame the new guys as they are still new but the old ones didn’t do enough. Losing the final 5-0 where they were just shell shocked with the coach having a banter and using Asllani in that match was psychologically catastrophic and a new competition straight that was a blessing in disguise just to show that the players still have it. Inter were never going to do anything useful in that competition other than giving Chivu a taste of reality before things turns serious and I’m glad Lautaro laid out what needs to be done to players that don’t want to stick around and drag Inter with them. Remember players leaving quickly or making their intentions known means there’ll be time to get replacement instead. Now bacause of Lautaro outburst Galatasaray who might had a secret agreement with Hakan will be forced to overpay for him because Al Hilal have joined the race and Inter might get something decent to get a replacement. Otherwise Hakan would’ve left at the last possible moment leaving Inter with nothing but this way if Galatasaray don’t act fast and continue to play mind games the player might stay and Inter will get a replacement anyways and Hakan becomes a bench player.
I am just confused on why he’d feel offended by what Lautaro said? It feels like he put himself in an uncomfortable situation in this case.
He probably felt guilty cuz his form has been bad since injury. Maybe he took Lautaro saying that as an accusation of not being committed. Thuram looks like he needs more rest to be honest.
Yea it took me by surprise seriously because although his form dropped compared to the first half, I though it was due to a large number of matches we had which is understandable for me atleast. But him reacting this way kind of pissed me off
Cause the way Lautaro behave publicly called out teammates instead speak face to face could also happen in the future with him
He prob spoke to them in private and something happened which we dont know about so he had to let it out on press.
I dont believe it.. nothing good can come out after you publicly humiliate your teammates in the media
It’s not like he said they’re the worst players on the world. Called out underperformance and said who wants to leave, should leave, which is both basically truth.
