Hakan Calhanoglu has become an unpopular figure at Inter Milan after refusing to clarify his intentions during Fenerbahce’s pursuit.

According to Corriere della Sera via FCInterNews, the Turk has lost the club’s trust.

Calhanoglu’s problems are of his own making.

Indeed, the 31-year-old’s reluctance to address transfer speculation publicly cast significant doubt on his commitment to the club.

However, his switch to Istanbul failed to materialize as Fenerbahce pulled the plug on the transfer.

After a month of intense speculation, the player’s agent, Gordon Stipic, confirmed yesterday that his client will remain at the club.

Yet, his words came a bit late, as it felt like he waited until Fenerbahce’s decision before addressing the situation.

Therefore, Cristian Chivu’s men no longer view Hakan Calhanoglu as a trustworthy ally.

Furthermore, the midfielder must take initiative to return to the fans’ good graces.

More importantly, he must re-establish the trust of his teammates, particularly Lautaro Martinez.

Indeed, the captain wasn’t happy with Calhanoglu’s behavior during Inter’s busted Club World Cup campaign.
