Daniele Adani feels that Inter Milan “have signed good players” this summer, but says that he “doesn’t understand the strategy.”
Speaking on Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInter1908, Adani gave his thoughts on his former club’s transfer business.
Inter Milan have now made five signings this summer transfer window.
The arrival of Manuel Akanji on loan from Manchester City with a purchase option has capped off the summer transfer window.
Prior to Akanji, Inter had also signed Petar Sucic, Luis Henrique, Ange-Yoan Bonny, and Andy Diouf. Furthermore, and just as significantly, Francesco Pio Esposito has joined the first team squad.
Notably, Akanji is by far and away the oldest player Inter have signed this summer.
The Swiss international turned 31 this year, but by far the other players Inter have brought in (including Pio Esposito) are all between the ages of 20 and 23.
This has made it clear that Inter are serious about dragging down the average age of their squad.
Adani: “Inter Have Signed Good Players, But I Don’t Understand The Strategy”

Former Inter defender Daniele Adani gave his thoughts on his old club’s approach this summer.
He argued that “Inter’s transfer window has been hard for the fans to understand.”
“One minute, they’re going after one player. And then, a different one comes in.”
“They’re after a defender who ends up going to Liverpool,” he said, referring to Giovanni Leoni. “And then no one comes in.”
“They’re after Lookman. But then they sign a midfielder.”
Adani suggested that Inter “need something more, but then no one comes in, and they’re fine, then they want to sign a striker, and end up signing a midfielder.”
However, it’s not all bad for Adani. He argues that “Inter have made some good moves.”
“I like the players they’ve signed,” the former defender said. “Including Diouf, he looks like a good player.”
“But I have to reiterate: I don’t understand their transfer window. They haven’t explained it.”
“And I’d like to know one other things,” Adani added. “And that’s how in tune Chivu has been with the club on the signings they’ve made.”
there was a clear strategy until the signing of bonny. we needed a winger, a midfielder and an attacker and decent options considered and bought, nice job well done.
After that the squad was complete and a little bit crowded so the management felt like just lets just do business only if there is a good opportunity. When you don’t feel the need and only watch the market for opportunities, you may do things which is hard to understand for the outsiders. after Bonny the only thing in mind was to do good business and cover the sold players with already owned youth or with players with potential to raise the capital gain.
Unlike us the fans, the management saw last season as a fruitful and hugely successful campaign since we earned a lot of money and few got more than us. You won’t revolutionize a winning side, just trying to make it a little better without disturbing the budget would probably bring financial success again.
Why are we even arguing about defenders!!? We have seen it for many years!! We don’t have a single dribbler in the team that could break defending lines… in the past it was the likes of lukaku that bullies defenders. Hakimi and Perisic that can run with the ball without missing a step or tripping like DM or Dumfries constantly do. Now our only player is Mickey… ffs an old and tired Mickey is our only dribbler. Also can we talk about Sommer?! Like seriously, last season was a mixtures of performances. Yes, a bunch of clean sheets… because of our solid defense and possession play most games. But if we will play direct football without stalling with 200 passes per attack, we will have hard counters coming our way and the guy can’t seem to figure it out since Christmas besides against Barca. Age caught up to him and his isn’t the tallest tbh..
Also before you jump me. Barca scored 6 on the team that is supposed to have the best defense… and could have had 10-12 if we didn’t get lucky. Sommer had great save, I won’t lie but look at the goals we conceded since Jan 1st 25… so many the like of Handa would save. Too many near post goals went in
Don’t worry guys management and Chivu thinks the defence will somehow age backwards by a few years and Bisseck will turn into peak Ramos. There was some hope left because after the defeat Inter were bound to buy a defender but instead sold another defender who can add more cover and reliable. One new player in defence was meant to only cover and adds more depth not weaken it by making sure Bisseck always plays.
Even Ramos was shite when he was younger….getting sent off every few games…costing RM points and wins.
but he developed in to a solid defender.
Bisseck could do the same.
A little bit less disrespect should be shown by fans.
ramos had that talent similar to balotelli when he was young. he couldn’t manage his temper and aggressiveness, but still did a lot. and you compared him to bisseck who talks big, but is always in blank state on the pitch?
yes indeed really weird transfer window this time. Just hoping we wont finished at 8th place like bilan last season
I must add the signing of akanji is brainless . we have de vrij, who to me is even better to him akanji . why not go in for solet or even this young champ that went to arsenal ( he was better at marking etike boot for boot )
Akanji will play right side CB not middle CB.
He is replacing Pavard.
I agree with Adani. Inter does the dame thing year after year. They know what the team needs and they always go after players just for show. Like a few years ago it was Bremer, this year Leoni and De Koni. Inter are becoming a joke that no one takes serious. The front office just puts the names out there to keep fans quite and make it seem like they are making a push with no real intention of making the move. Now they bring in Akanji to be honest i havent paid much attention to his game lately so its going to be interesting to see how he fits in. We had a great 1st game the team looked insync and had good rhythm so why change the back. Pavard played really good yet got benched for Bissick, Acerbi im sorry to say because i appreciate everything he has done for the club but its time to go. Acerbi is way to slow and gets beat alot. Bissick and Acerbi are the ones to blame for the 2nd goal yesterday. Bissick cost us a few games last year. I know it isnt Barella natural position but he played really good and distributed the ball great in the 1st game yet swapped with Hakan another mistake. I just dont understand Inter’s thought process sometimes.
All great points man. Its a shambles. Nothing really makes any sense. If we get the Akanji who joined City instead of us, its an amazing deal. Otherwise if its the injury prone Akanji this is one hell of an expensive loan.
nice assessment brethren
why biseck for pavard and not swap him with acerbi rather
no disrespect to acerbi for he have been a great asset to the team but he fucking lack the pace to go shoulder to shoulder with a pace attacker
being slow or not, it’s not his problem why he’s still the first choice. it’s the fucking management who are responsible for this. they think acerbi can catch up with young bloods. he’s been declining after we were facing city in the final, yet he still does miracles and makes them think he’s still useful. we were chasing midfielders and attackers instead while lacking in the back. this makes no sense at all
if we get really good CB and much younger, acerbi could stay as backup and mentor. his wage ain’t that big. meanwhile bisseck has been nightmare since last season yet inter keep giving him chances.
as for hakan, you can’t just put player with one of the highest wages on the bench. he’s not declining yet, just recovering from injury and needs to find his rhythm back.
the only biggest problem at inter now is lack of defenders. sending declining pavard out of loan or selling him now makes no sense as he has experiences much more than bisseck. inter need to sell bisseck instead of pavard and get another backup for either RCB or CB.
You can’t blame both,
Bisseck is the one to blame, his actions leave acerbi trying to cover his man and Bissecks man.
Acerbi is reliable and a good defender, he’s old but can at least win a battle and head a ball.
We needed to put someone younger with pace next to him and bastoni but they have added another below par crappy 30yr old to replace a pretty decent defender who’s had injury probs but on his day is still decent.
Marotta needs to answer for this summer
