Former defender Daniele Adani feels that Cristian Chivu is “the right choice” to coach Inter Milan this season.

The former defender gave his thoughts on the Viva El Football podcast, via FCInterNews, He also spoke about Inter’s failed pursuit of Ademola Lookman over the summer.

This summer, Inter Milan changed coaches.

Simone Inzaghi departed from the Nerazzurri to join Al-Hilal. In his place, the club brought in Cristian Chivu.

The Romanian may have a strong legacy at Inter as a player.

Moreover, Chivu has coached Inter at several youth team levels, where he has always impressed.

However, there is also no getting around the fact that the 44-year-old has had very little coaching experience at the senior level prior to taking the Inter job.

In fact, the only club that Chivu had previously coached at a senior level prior to joining Inter as coach was Parma, over the last few months of the last season.

Furthermore, Chivu only took charge of a grand total of thirteen matches with the Gialloblu.

Therefore, Chivu’s appointment has been largely perceived as a risky gamble on the part of Inter.

Nevertheless, former Inter defender Daniele Adani feels that Inter made the right decision in appointing Chivu as coach last June.

He commented that “Chivu gives me the impression that he’s at the absolute top level.”

“He was captain of Ajax at the age of 21,” Adani noted.

“There isn’t necessarily a specific step that someone has to take to coach a top team. Experience has nothing to do with it.”

Adani argued that Chivu is “someone who played at the highest level.”

“And it’s only right that he lives up to those standards,” the former Inter defender said.

“I see him as being the right choice,” Adani said of Chivu. “Considering the ease with which he manages the dressing room, and the way that he communicates.”

“He immediately brings back the right balance to the team. And he’s gotten them back on the right track with clarity, a serious attitude, and knowledge.”

“I feel that he’s a credible coach,” Adani said of Chivu.
