Inter Milan fell to two late goals as Juventus emerged 4-3 victors at the Allianz Stadium, with Nerazzurri goalkeeper Yann Sommer. However, Inter legend Walter Zenga has defended the Swiss shot-stopper.
It was not a good day for either goalkeeper.
Juventus’ Michele Di Gregorio saved just one of Inter’s four shots on target.
Meanwhile, Inter keeper Sommer failed to make a single save all game.
However, Zenga points out that two of the Bianconeri’s goals were exceptional and there is not much that could have been done by the Swiss international.
He was critical of how the Nerazzurri utilised their squad.
“If you want to change, you have to show up with certain players.
“If Juve wins because they put Adzic on with 10 minutes left, I don’t understand why Pio Esposito returned to Inter.”
Zenga: ‘Easy To Blame Sommer’ After Inter Defeat To Juventus

Speaking in the studios of Sky Sport, with quotes via FCInter1908, Zenga defended the Inter keeper.
“It’s easy to think that the goalkeeper is to blame for the goals,” Zenga said.
“But if you consider that with shots from outside the box, especially the last goal, the ball is still and it doesn’t move.
“It means it takes a moment to get to the goal.”
Zenga added “When it comes to determining the keeper’s responsibilities for such well-executed shots, I’d talk more about the skill of the player taking them.”
Zenga also reflected on the Nerazzurri’s defensive struggles in recent games.
“The issue is a bit more complex,” he said.
“If we consider that in a Champions League final we concede five, today we concede four and two against Udinese…
“In my opinion, if a new coach arrives, he can’t continue his predecessor’s path.
“There are differences in attention, ideas and much more,” Zenga added.
Me I know by November Chivu would be gone Chivu is a coward that’s why Marotta went for him so he can control him.i will give all the praises to Inzaghi for our recent success
We need Mourinho only he willchange formation to 4-4-2 .
We really need a Kone. We dont have anyone who is good in both phases who can change pace, beat someone and control the game, he is a must buy in January. Defensively Acerbi looks way off last season, we need a dominant defender (Solet) or someone of similar ilk. I dont believe Chivu was perfect in the game with his subs as well as well as tactics Esposito should have come on with Bonny and both Thuram and Lauti replaced to stretch them as they were chasing. We needed to be more solid also after taking the lead and just be hard to beat rather than playing the same way, we lack a real player in midfield who has legs and power. Anyway onto the next one.
too many problems in this team. I’m personally glad we don’t have a metronome aka CDM anymore. it’s useless and let’s be honest hakan wasn’t good as CDM and his experience was limited by playing that role.
we move last season’s pass the ball around in the back to final third now. it’s stupid. I’m seeing the fallen City under guardiola here because that’s what they do unlike when he was in barca. everyone wants to score while we keep passing the ball around and let opponents setup the defense. second, ffs, we need strikers who play as real striker, not the one who’s dropping deep while nobody’s overlapping or making forward runs. thuram and lauti should never play together ever again. it’s like we were playing with 7 strikers and waiting for midfielders to do longshots.
the only good thing I personally see so far is how the pressing works. it’s million times better than inzaghi even mhiki doesn’t look like lazy guy n defending, but overall we play bad than his inter
Sommer needs to go. Costed us 2 games already. FUCK!
I don’t think people realised but Inter were essentially playing with 10 men by the 80th minutes(Thuram). Like as a coach in a derby winning 2-3 away to not realise that wa happening means Chivu is just not Inter’s level. If he lacks the courage to tweak stuff to get the win while the match is ongoing he’s not going to have the balls to make necessary changes. Like benching Sommer using Bisseck as a defensive midfield or to just play a different formation. No need to get 5-8 losses before December to realise this it’s already clear. Like if you’re winning and have Susic-Zielinski-Mikhi(yellow) none of those players will give you cover all wants to keep the ball and we all know what happened next.
People now probably realize that Inzaghi did really good work despite all the criticize. Imaging you are managing a team need fresh blood but all you got is finance issue and no big money spent on buying the right person, and still be asked to win trophy and money. No wonder Inzaghi left. And see how much Al hilal spent this summer.
I’m blaming Chivu, dude need too leave.
dude ain’t ruthless either got some vital principles on pitch, inter got players that need to start playing why not used any of them than the old fuks
I love you Walter, but Sommer is way past his best, and we are now just repeating the same mistakes we made with Handanovic…. Sommer was 34 when we signed him- he was never meant to be a long term solution, and now that he’s lost some of his spring, the fact that he’s so short is also costing us…. a keeper with a 6ft plus frame would have saved at least the 1st and 4th goals…. Martinez needs to start against Ajax! These players aren’t Chivus players- he doesn’t owe them any loyalty, especially when they will cost him his job!!
I’m not blaming sommer.
Sommer 100% at fault for the 4th Juve goal. Yildiz goal not so much.
