Inter Milan could reportedly take on bitter Serie A rivals Napoli this weekend without star center-forward Marcus Thuram.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the club’s medical staff will deliver their verdict on the Frenchman’s fitness by Thursday.

Marcus Thuram will not be at Cristian Chivu’s disposal for Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

However, there was genuine optimism regarding the 28-year-old’s return for the upcoming Serie A showdown in Naples.

Despite earlier hopes for the French superstar’s timely recovery, there’s still a question mark hanging over his head.

Indeed, Inter’s medical staff will further assess Thuram’s fitness over the new couple of days before making a final decision.

Therefore, there’s still a possibility for the former Borussia Monchengladbach ace to miss Saturday’s trip to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

As such, Ange-Yoan Bonny could make his third consecutive Serie A start for the Nerazzurri.

He seems like an obvious choice after scoring in back-to-back league appearances, including an early winner against Roma last weekend.
