Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu explained how he has managed to turn the team’s fortunes around following a difficult start to the season.
Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the 44-year-old revealed the secret behind the Nerazzurri’s form resurgence.
Despite getting his Serie A tenure off to a dream start, Cristian Chivu had stuttered at the beginning of his regime at San Siro.
Indeed, after a 5-0 rout of Torino, Inter went on to lose back-to-back league games against Udinese and Juventus.
However, the 20-time Italian champions have since gone into overdrive, racking up an impressive six-game winning streak.
Furthermore, that run includes a pair of convincing Champions League wins over Ajax and Slavia Prague.
Both victories saw the Nerazzurri keep a clean sheet. Therefore, they’re on the brink of rewriting the club’s history.
Beating Royale Union SG without conceding would see Inter win their first three Champions League games ‘to nil’ for the first time.
Moreover, confidence will be sky-high after the Italian heavyweights snatched a morale-boosting win at Roma last weekend.
Inter Milan Manager Cristian Chivu Reveals Secret Behind Nerazzurri Return to Form

“I became a coach, trying to honor the role and responsibility they gave me,” Chivu said. “I wasn’t bad then, and I’m not better now.
“Those are others’ perceptions because when you win, everything is easier, and you’re exalted.
“I don’t like it when people talk too much because I’ve been in this world for years, even in Italy, and I know how quickly opinions can change.
“So, I’m just happy with what these guys are trying to do, which is have an important season.
“They’re good, they deserve it, and they have the ambition to remain at certain levels, levels that have always been there in recent years.”
After explaining Inter’s renaissance, Chivu previewed tonight’s game at Lotto Park.
“It’s a team that acquired its identity last year by winning the championship,” he stated. “They have the same identity this year in the national league.
‘They’re first in the standings and already have three points in the Champions League.
“Moreover, they’re aggressive, they come to press high, win the ball as quickly as possible, make the right re-pressing, and have stamina and physical structure.
“We need to be very careful to avoid their pressure and aggression.”
Chivu Delivers Marcus Thuram Fitness Update

Star striker Marcus Thuram will miss tonight’s clash due to a thigh injury.
Indeed, the former Borussia Monchengladbach has been on the sidelines since Inter’s last Champions League fixture.
He sustained a thigh injury during a 3-0 thrashing of Slavia Prague in late September.
Unfortunately for the Nerazzurri, the 28-year-old will not be at Chivu’s disposal for Saturday’s league showdown against Napoli.
“From a human perspective, I feel sorry because Marcus didn’t deserve, as a guy and an important player, this entire break.
“He was going through a moment of great confidence and concrete things.
“When he returns, after Naples, he will resume training with the team.
“Therefore, I don’t know if that week, either against Fiorentina at home or Verona, he will return.
“But we must be careful because it’s already been twenty days, and he will need rehabilitation and group training.”
Meanwhile, Chivu can rely on Ange-Yoan Bonny and Francesco Pio Esposito to fill the Frenchman’s shoes.
Asked how many forwards he has, the Romanian replied: “We also have another one.
“Who? One who came on in the last minutes in recent matches.”
Finally, he confirmed that Yann Sommer will start in goal tonight.
“Sommer plays tomorrow.”
