Inter Milan stalwart Denzel Dumfries broke the deadlock in tonight’s 4-0 rout of Royale Union SG in the Champions League.
Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the Dutch wingback hailed the team’s progress under Cristian Chivu.
The Nerazzurri posted their seventh consecutive win in all competitions, maintaining their perfect European record under the 44-year-old.
Indeed, the Italian giants have won all three Champions League matches this season via an aggregate score of 9-0.
However, tonight’s win was particularly impressive as Inter netted four goals in a Champions League away game.
Denzel Dumfries laid the groundwork for his side’s dominant victory at Lotto Park.
Despite dominating proceedings, Inter had to wait until late in the first half to find a breakthrough.
Yet, after the 29-year-old’s opener, everything went smoothly for Chivu’s side.
Lautaro Martinez doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime before Hakan Calhanoglu made it 3-0 at the start of the second half.
Moreover, Francesco Pio Esposito capped off Inter’s incredible triumph with his first-ever Champions League goal.
Denzel Dumfries Hails Inter Milan Progress After Royale Union SG Demolition

“A very important win,” Dumfries stated. “At the beginning, it was tough, but then we changed our attitude.
“We played well as a team, and we’re happy with the victory.”
Furthermore, Dumfries reassured fans about a potential injury scare after being spotted with an ice pack on his leg.
“Yes, everything’s fine,” he said. “It was just a precaution. There are many games ahead.”
Then, he hailed the team’s improvement after back-to-back Serie A losses in early September.
“Even at the start, we played well, but we weren’t lucky in the matches we lost against Udinese and Juve.
“We’ve started again well; this is the right path. We have to keep going.”
Finally, he credited Chivu for inspiring confidence within the squad.
“Yes, I agree. He’s a coach who talks a lot with the players; he’s strong. I’m happy with the trust he’s given me,” Dumfries concluded.

this man is not in at same level as lauti, bare or basto. he can’t cross for fuck sake, almost got sold few times due to fitness issues, BUT can’t deny he’s the talisman of the group. he shows maturity as he grows up which is needed for this team. second best development after brozovic for decades at inter. hats off for his effort. I’m really sorry if he’ll be forced to play more matches than everyone cause he has no great backup
