Denzel Dumfries shone in last night’s Champions League clash between Royale Union SG and Inter Milan at Lotto Park.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Dutchman was the best player on the pitch, not just because of the goal.

Indeed, Denzel Dumfries helped Inter Milan find a much-needed opening goal toward the end of the first half.

He was in the right place at the right time to turn the ball home for his third goal of the season and second in the Champions League.

Furthermore, the 29-year-old excelled defensively following Inter’s shaky start.

Dumfries’ deadlock-breaker opened the floodgates, as Inter went on to score three unanswered goals.

Meanwhile, Lautaro Martinez maintained his prolific form in Europe, doubling Inter’s lead on the stroke of halftime.

However, before scoring his 24th goal in the Champions League, he made a last-ditch clearance to prevent the Belgians from taking the lead.

Therefore, he proved Cristian Chivu right for refusing to bench him despite recent fatigue concerns.
