Serie A giants Inter Milan eased past Royale Union SG in last night’s Champions League showdown on Belgian soil.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Italians won despite falling short of their high standard.

Cristian Chivu led the Nerazzurri to a fantastic 4-0 win at Lotto Park, maintaining his 100% managerial record in the Champions League.

Furthermore, the San Siro powerhouse generated an eye-catching 4.55 xG, making as many as 21 attempts on goal.

Despite another free-scoring showing, Inter showed signs of vulnerability at the back.

Indeed, the Belgian side squandered several decent scoring chances in the opening half an hour.

Moreover, Lautaro Martinez pulled off a vital defensive clearance to top Royale Union from taking the lead.

However, Chivu’s side grew into the contest as the game progressed.

Chivu’s decision to replace Stefan de Vrij with Manuel Akanji at the start of the second half further consolidated Inter’s defense.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri eventually kept another clean sheet, even though their performance flattered to deceive.
