Cristian Chivu has given his Inter Milan side a day off in the build-up to Saturday’s mouth-watering Serie A clash against Napoli.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Marcus Thuram remains on the sidelines with a thigh injury.

Inter Milan put Royale Union SG to the sword on Tuesday, cruising to a comprehensive 4-0 victory in the Champions League.

However, there’s no room for complacency as the San Siro giants travel to Naples this weekend to take on the reigning Serie A champions.

Despite the significance of the occasion, Cristian Chivu is keen to avoid overexertion.

Indeed, the 44-year-old wants his players to maintain peak physical condition and mental sharpness.

As a result, there will be only one training session ahead of Saturday’s trip to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Meanwhile, Inter will have to do it without star striker Marcus Thuram.

Unfortunately, the French superstar will not be at Chivu’s disposal for Inter’s next two games in Serie A.

Instead, he’s hoping to regain full fitness for an away clash against Hellas Verona in early November.
