Inter president Beppe Marotta has praised the work of Cristian Chivu, crediting the coach and the squad for the club’s strong reaction ahead of tonight’s showdown against Napoli.
Speaking to DAZN, Marotta admitted he did not foresee such a dominant response after the loss to Juventus, but highlighted how the group found its identity again.
“That defeat was strange, because we were winning until the 83rd minute,” he said, via FCInterNews.
“But the real key was the work of Chivu, his staff and the players. As a great club, we must always aim as high as possible.
“Tonight we face the champions of Italy in an extraordinary atmosphere, and we will need an extraordinary approach.”

Marotta also explained how Inter rediscovered their energy. “Chivu started with a Club World Cup match and no normal pre-season – it was unusual.
“But step by step we handled everything. We always knew his value. Now he is doing very well and enjoys the respect of many who once criticised him.
“The credit goes to Chivu, his staff and above all the players.”
Inter will now look to continue their winning momentum in a match that could shape the Scudetto race at a critical early juncture.
Napoli come into this game following a 6-2 humiliation in the Netherlands during the week against PSV Eindhoven.
Inter, meanwhile, maintained their 100% record in this year’s Champions League with a 4-0 win at Union Saint-Gilloise.
