Stefan de Vrij has urged Inter Milan to stay on the upward trajectory after scooping up three points against Kairat Almaty.

Speaking to Inter TV via FCInterNews, the Dutch defender stressed the importance of maintaining this rhythm.

Despite failing to impress, Inter claimed a vital 2-1 home win over the Champions League debutants last night.

Indeed, goals from Lautaro Martinez and Carlos Augusto inspired the Nerazzurri to their third consecutive win in all competitions.

Furthermore, the Serie A giants have preserved their faultless European record under Cristian Chivu.

They’ve now won all four league-phase outings, positioning themselves perfectly to secure automatic last-16 qualification.

Buoyed by another victory, Chivu’s men will resume their Serie A campaign this weekend when they take on Lazio at home.

Whether De Vrij will face his former club remains uncertain after delivering a sub-par performance last night.

However, he expects Inter to keep racking up points.

“Winning all four matches was important,” De Vrij said after the game. “We need to keep picking up points because we’re only halfway through the group stage.

“We must continue to improve,” he added. “I always try to give my maximum when I step on the pitch, to help my teammates, and to stay positive with others.”

Inter are within touching distance of securing automatic last-16 progression.

However, the Nerazzurri would be naive to take anything for granted.

Indeed, they’ve yet to face Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, and Borussia Dortmund.

Therefore, they cannot afford to get complacent.

“We always play to win,” De Vrij stated. “Whenever we take the field, that’s our goal. We will do the same in the next games as well.”

For now, Inter must focus on their upcoming Serie A showdown against Lazio.
