Inter president Beppe Marotta has hailed the impact of Cristian Chivu as head coach, revealing that the club’s decision to appoint him was made with conviction despite outside scepticism, whilst also describing the upcoming San Siro project as “a necessary step.”
Speaking during the “Management dello Sport”, Marotta explained that the Romanian was chosen because of his values and vision for Inter’s future.
“I’m surprised people were shocked by Cristian’s quality,” Marotta said, with quotes via FCInter1908.
“We chose him because he represents important values. It took courage to go against the tide, even from a media perspective. Some even called for Mourinho. With all due respect, if I hadn’t had that courage, I would have regretted it.”
Under Chivu, Inter have regained top form domestically and in Europe.
The coach’s tactical consistency and development of younger players has earned widespread praise.
Marotta On San Siro: “A Necessary Step Toward Modernity”

The Inter president also addressed the emotional debate surrounding the demolition of San Siro, describing it as a difficult but necessary evolution.
“For us romantics, the idea of tearing down San Siro brings sadness and nostalgia, my first time there was in 1966,” Marotta reflected.
“But innovation requires modernity. A stadium today must ensure safety, comfort, and a sense of belonging. A new home will bring direct and indirect benefits and turn the area into a lively social hub.”
Marotta stressed that Inter currently generate around €80 million annually in matchday revenue.
However, the long-term goal is to approach figures like Real Madrid’s €500 million target once the new stadium is completed.
After Milan and Inter completed their purchase of the current stadium and surrounding land, the project can begin.

“Nah…they played under the possesion in roma game and had horrid refs with gobi and hipoli. Inter rocks. Keep calm and forza Inter brotha
with all due respect to marotta, after his blunder comments at summer, myself is still not relying enough on him to talk about people surrounding inter, esp about one of our legends. that was so unnecessary to call when the interviewer themselves didn’t bring the topic.
I’ll be honest. At the time of this hell end to the season i wished for mou. Good thing i’m not in charge. I’m too biased. In beppe and chivu we trust. Forza Inter
Marotta never liked Mourinho. Even though he’s in serious decline, I thought it unnecessary to say that about a club idol. Let’s see if he really made the right choice with Chivu. So far, the intern hasn’t won any big games, and even when the team wins, they’ve played poorly in most matches.
