Denzel Dumfries will, in all likelihood, miss the upcoming Serie A showdown between title contenders Inter and AC Milan.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, Cristian Chivu doesn’t trust Luis Henrique to fill in for the Dutch wingback.

Despite his premature return from international duty, Denzel Dumfries has been unable to overcome his ankle injury.

Therefore, the 29-year-old is likely to watch Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina from the sidelines.

Dumfries’ absence will deplete Chivu’s options on the right flank.

Indeed, Luis Henrique has failed to convince the 45-year-old manager of his ability to fill the Dutchman’s shoes.

Therefore, Inter’s marquee summer signing will probably stay on the bench.

Meanwhile, Chivu may once again turn to Carlos Augusto to fill the vacancy.

Augusto took Dumfries’ place against Lazio on the eve of the international break and excelled.

As such, the former Monza ace is the leading candidate to start on the right, even though Matteo Darmian has returned from a lengthy spell in the treatment room.
