Inter signed Manuel Akanji from Manchester City at the tail-end of the summer transfer window.

However, the transfer collapsed at the 11th hour as the player pulled the plug on a deal.

Akanji refused to sign for the Rossoneri, deterred by their absence from the Champions League.
