Inter Milan youngster Matteo Cocchi could make his first-ever senior start for the club in tonight’s Coppa Italia last-16 tie against Venezia.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Ange-Yoan Bonny has returned to the squad after missing Sunday’s clash against Pisa.

Cristian Chivu had to leave the French striker out of the squad due to illness last weekend.

However, the 22-year-old has regained full fitness and will likely start tonight’s match on the bench.

Indeed, Marcus Thuram and Francesco Pio Esposito are the likeliest candidates to spearhead Inter’s attack.

Regarded as one of Inter’s most promising young talents, Matteo Cocchi is on the verge of achieving an important career milestone.

Despite making his debut under Simone Inzaghi, the 18-year-old is still waiting for his first senior start.

Indeed, Cocchi debuted in last season’s Champions League showdown against Feyenoord as a second-half substitute.

Yet, Chivu seems willing to give the Italian prodigy a chance to shine from the first whistle tonight.
