Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu has decided to start Andy Diouf and Davide Frattesi against Venezia. This evening’s Coppa Italia last-16 clash kicks off at 21:00 CET at the San Siro.
The match kicks off at 21:00 GMT (20:00 Local Time) in Milan.
Inter Milan bounced back from back-to-back defeats to AC Milan and Atletico Madrid last weekend.
Indeed, Lautaro Martinez netted a match-winning double in a 2-0 win at Pisa, boosting the team’s spirits ahead of this clash.
Meanwhile, Venezia remain the only non-Serie A side still competing for Coppa Italia glory this season.
However, Giovanni Stroppa’s men must defy the odds tonight to reach the quarter-finals.
Inter Milan vs Venezia – Andy Diouf Makes First Nerazzurri Start

Chivu regained Henrikh Mkhitaryan during the weekend, but the Armenian veteran starts on the bench.
With Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella also rested, Andy Diouf is ready to make his maiden start at San Siro. However, he won’t start in the middle of the park.
Therefore, Petar Sucic regains his place in Chivu’s starting XI.
On the other hand, Piotr Zielinski and Davide Frattesi return to the starting lineup to replace the standout duo.
Therefore, Cristian Chivu has decided to field a brand-new midfield trio tonight.
Chivu Hands Davide Frattesi Rare Start This Season

The main talking point comes on the right flank, where Luis Henrique is in line to start ahead of Carlos Augusto.
With Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian both unavailable, the Brazilian gets another chance to regain Chivu’s trust.
Meanwhile, Federico Dimarco surrenders his place on the left flank to Diouf, who impressed on the wing last weekend.
At the back, Chivu leans on experience with Stefan de Vrij between Carlos Augusto and Yann Bisseck. Therefore, Alessandro Bastoni, Manuel Akanji, and Francesco Acerbi get some rest.
Furthermore, Lautaro Martinez drops to the bench, with Francesco Pio Esposito and Marcus Thuram set to lead the line.

I can’t think of the last time an Inter B team played this well
Exactly but its a B team eager to get into the first team and I think they know they have a chance as long as they perform better
Hear me out… Bovo kind of moves likes Barella. Maybe a Barella 2.0 in the making?
Funny thing; when we win big – no tariq, no other trolls. The lube was due to run out at some point.
apart from killing the chap in the accident, I don’t rem seeing martinez doing much wrong between the sticks. his handling and general command of the area is excellent. love the way he runs out to get balls. I think he really needs to start more often
Made some sloppy passes and giveaways but besides that, which will come with more experience I agree, think as a pure shot stopper he’s good enough already
Important win, Happy for Diuf and Frattesi. Now (probably) Roma.
Diouf played well, i think if he ran more he would be a better player still, i think he’s probably best out wide because of someone behind him as he likes a dribble and if he loses the ball he has cover. Bovo looks interesting, energetic something our midfield lacks, decent passing, would like to see him more in next cup match. Cocchi played fine as well as Spinacce.
I’m probably the only one who wasn’t too thrilled about the performance. I know this wasn’t our best team but against Como if we lose the ball this much, especially in key areas, they are going to make us pay. Our passing and decision-making needs some improvement. We aren’t close enough when receiving or passing the ball. I know Chivu will correct all this but it needs to happen quicker. Also I applaud Chivu’s innovation and intelligence in terms of using inverted fullbacks, this may be a step in the direction of using wingers; just an observation, who knows.
We played with one actual starter in Thuram. this was a practice match
I see what you mean.. but I wouldn’t be too harsh as a big majority of the players starting today were not regulars and possibly rusty. that said I agree chivu needs to ensure that everyone is sharp and the passing is more crisp!
Microwave, I heard you compare Pio to Dzeko, does that mean you hate him?
Also, you can occasionally praise Inter’s wingplay instead of always bemoaning that there are no out and out wingers, if we buy any wingers right now they will be converted for this system, the system isn’t changing in a hurry, despite Chivu alluding to this in pre season.
Really pleasing performance! 5 great goals- hard to pick a favourite!! Diouf continues his progression- there is most definitely a player there- who’d have thought that players need time to settle before writing them off?? The kids all looked confident, with Cocchi definitely being the one to watch- we have a player to hold on to there!! Even Henrique should have gained a little confidence tonight, with a few successful dribbles and a shot on target!! Wouldn’t be an Inter performance without conceding a silly goal, but can’t complain, a good job well done!!
Bovo looks like potential in that CDM role. Looks very Calm on the ball.
Indeed!
Wouldn’t be inter without letting the opposition score with their only shot of the game
Huge game at the weekend now.
So many young talents on the field…would never been told during Inzaghi time.
100% agree and I hope Chivu will start using them in serie a matches to rest key players when facing weaker opponents.
Diouf Bissek and Thuram have been phenomenal this game
Spinnace and Bovo…. its a youth-fest!!!
Nice strike Bonny
Bonny!!!! goooaaalll!!!! Absolute Screamer!!!!
Bonnyyyy
GOLAZO
Lol how can you miss that miki
can’t even get it on target when it’s wide open… poor mkhi
Finally taking shots instead of trying Tiki taka it into the net
Are we defending now against Venezia?
Been the same way all game, Possession been 50/50
A touch of calamity to their goal, just to make it a proper Inter performance, Lol…
I like Cocci, Looks really skilled.
He’s also grown about 6inches since his debut last season, which is good!
impressive, Couple more to grow possibly too.
Bonny and Cocchi!!! Nice!!
Pio gotta pass that ball to Thuram for his hattrick there. Rookie move
True… I’d like to think that if it wasn’t 4-0 already, he would have done….
Eh i think pio needs to be a striker more sometimes so i dont mind
At this point, probably best to take off Thuram, and let Lautaro try to bag some more goals…. And half an hour for Cocchi please!!
goallllllllllllllll Thuram
Lovely goal!! The big hope is that the likes of Diouf, Henrique and Frattesi will take confidence from this going forward….
Welcome back Miki, Almost got an assist there
Nig question…. Can Miki get a shot on target vs Venezia??
3-0 is good but the team’s passing needs a lot of work. Also positioning could use some work. Good game thus far and a really good showing from Diouf and Henrique.
3 nil up at half time.. Hoping to see Spinacce and/or Bovo get some minutes…
they’re not even on the bench, only TAHO and Cocchi make it to the bench of today’s game
Yes, it’s only Venezia, but a great performance, players taking their chances, and hopefully a chance to see the likes of Cocchi get some minutes in the second half…. Great job by the boys!!
Diouf is starting to show what he is capable of. He is very good offensively. If he is discipline in his defensive game, he would be big. Inter really need a player like him: fast, can dribble, can take opponent one on one. That’s what missing last season.
Thuram was like I can that too Lol. Also it’s refreshing to see Inter shooting from outside the box
2 goals outside of box, finally realized they can score like that also
Lovely strike from Thuram!! Getting the job done early!! Another great goal!!
this is what happens when we shoot OUTSIDE the box
I’m like diof on this WB role. Adds a different dimension to how we play. Frattesi needs to take me responsibility like he did on the goal.
Frattesi is a forward, he is a TERRIBLY CM
Frattesi-Diouf a new partnership I never expected to see Lol
i’m liking diouf in the wingback role. a lot.
Its diouf world
That was hard to stop. Great goal
Pio, Pio, Pio!!! Oh my Word!!! Goooaaalll!!!!
That was well worked goal. I hope it gives him confidence his dribbling will help Inter a lot.
Dioufff
Diouf!!!! goooaaalll!!!!! Great move between him and Frattesi…. really happy for the lad!!!
Looking forward to seeing J.Martinez, Pio and Diouf start- hoping to see some minutes for Cocchi tonight, the lad looks like he could be class!! Let’s Gooooooo!!!
Forza !!! Let’s go boys
