Italian media were unanimous in their praise after Inter swept aside Como with a commanding 4-0 victory at San Siro, a result Gazzetta dello Sport described as “undeniable”.

The win briefly restored the Nerazzurri to the top of the Serie A table.

Indeed, it showcased the kind of clarity, intensity and tactical maturity that, as the paper suggested, “reveals more than what the scoreline shows”.

According to Gazzetta, the performance represented “Chivu’s great revenge on Fabregas”, with the Inter coach earning “a gigantic vindication” through a game plan that allowed Como sterile possession before triggering “a hellstorm of pressure and counter-attacks”.

As the paper put it, “Chivu’s results-driven humility beat Fabregas’ bold, idealistic approach.”

Inter set the tone immediately.

“In the first quarter of an hour, Inter smothered Como in its cradle,” the report said.

Indeed noting two huge chances inside three minutes as Fabregas’ players “looked like they were on a school trip.”

Como were seemingly caught off guard by Inter’s early physicality.

Luis Henrique again impressed, following up his display against Venezia with a well-constructed assist for Lautaro after initiating the move himself.

Fabregas’ side briefly rallied after half-time, and Gazzetta acknowledged that “Como played like Como” in the opening ten minutes of the second half, going close to an equaliser that “would have reopened the match”.

But Inter survived the moment, with Sommer alert, before striking with trademark simplicity.

“Dimarco from the corner, Acerbi flicks it on, and Thuram pounces with a poacher’s touch.” It marked Inter’s seventh goal from a corner this season.

From there Como collapsed, with Calhanoglu adding the third and Carlos Augusto finishing off a sweeping move for the fourth.

The paper concluded that the Nerazzurri had been “close to perfection”, adding a warning for the future. “When they want, they’re the strongest of all. Playing like this every time, that’s the challenge Chivu has to win.”
