Inter Milan talisman Hakan Calhanoglu will reportedly start Friday’s Supercoppa Italiana semi-final tie against Bologna on the bench.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCinterNews, Cristian Chivu is unwilling to risk his star midfielder before the final.

Hakan Calhanoglu sustained a minor adductor problem during Inter’s controversial home defeat to Liverpool last Tuesday.

Therefore, he was unavailable for Sunday’s trip to Genoa, with Piotr Zielinski filling his shoes at Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

However, Chivu has included the 31-year-old in his Supercoppa squad.

Despite traveling to Saudi Arabia with the squad, Calhanoglu is likely to start the semi-final clash against Bologna on the bench.

As such, Zielinski will probably make another start at the expense of Petar Sucic.

Meanwhile, Chivu would be ready to reinstate the Turkish superstar in the grand final, provided that Inter overcome the Rossoblu.

On the other hand, Matteo Darmian has regained full fitness after spending the last two months in the pits.

Yet, the Italian veteran is lacking match fitness and will likely keep Calhanoglu company on the bench.
