Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries underwent surgery yesterday to ‘stabilize’ his long-term ankle problem.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the procedure was necessary to address the Dutchman’s niggling problem.
Denzel Dumfries suffered a nasty ankle injury during Inter’s home win over Lazio at the beginning of November.
Though the issue seemed innocuous at first, the 29-year-old has been unable to recover for over a month.
Therefore, he decided to go under the knife.
Why Inter Milan Ace Denzel Dumfries Had to Undergo Surgery

Detailed medical checks revealed ligament damage, aggravated by the injury sustained under Mattia Zaccagni’s challenge.
As such, surgery became necessary, even though it is likely to sideline the former PSV Eindhoven star for up to three months.
Indeed, Inter cannot expect to have Dumfries back before the start of March.
However, the Dutch defender should be ready for the reverse Serie A fixture against AC Milan.
In the meantime, Cristian Chivu must rely on Luis Henrique to deputize for his starting wingback.
It’s also difficult to exclude the arrival of a new player in January.
