Inter Milan could reportedly accelerate their pursuit of Tarik Muharemovic if Stefan de Vrij leaves the club in January.

According to La Repubblica via FCInter1908, the Dutchman could cut ties with the Nerazzurri next month.

Stefan de Vrij has lost his first-team status at San Siro after Cristian Chivu was appointed the new head coach.

Indeed, the 33-year-old has made only three Serie A appearances this season, adding three more in the Champions League.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup around the corner, De Vrij is desperate to secure regular first-team opportunities elsewhere.

De Vrij could force his exit in January, which would prompt Inter to sign a new center-back.

Meanwhile, Tarik Muharemovic has drawn the club’s attention after a superb start to the season at the Mapei Stadium.

However, Inter would likely have to beat AC Milan and Juventus to his signature.

Furthermore, the club initially planned to land a new defender at the end of the season.

Yet, De Vrij’s potential departure would change Inter’s priorities.
