Former Barcelona defender and World Cup winner Samuel Umtiti believes Inter are currently setting the pace in Serie A, placing them ahead of all their domestic rivals in the Scudetto race.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Umtiti explained that regular viewing has convinced him of Inter’s edge. “I watch a lot of matches and I see Inter ahead of everyone,” he said.
“They have the strongest players and a clearly defined style.” For the former Lecce centre-back, that combination of quality and identity makes the Nerazzurri the benchmark.

Umtiti also offered his take on the chasing pack. He admitted curiosity around Juventus, noting that their trajectory could change once Luciano Spalletti fully stamps his authority on the side.
“I’m curious to see Juventus when Spalletti manages to impose his ideas,” he said, before widening the picture. “Roma, Milan and Napoli can also have their say.”
One of the more intriguing mentions was Como, newly promoted and led by Cesc Fabregas. “Keep an eye on Como too,” Umtiti warned. “Fabregas takes risks, but he goes straight down his path. I love his determination.”
While acknowledging the competitiveness of the league, Umtiti’s verdict was clear.
At this stage of the season, Inter’s balance, clarity and individual quality put them a step ahead of the rest, and firmly in control of the title conversation.
