Inter Milan long-serving stalwart Lautaro Martinez is following in the footsteps of his legendary compatriot Javier Zanetti.

According to La Repubblica via FCInterNews, El Toro has become a ‘tattooed’ heir of the iconic Nerazzurri captain.

Inter’s decision to sign Lautaro Martinez from Racing Club in 2018 may have been the club’s best piece of business in the past 20 years.

Indeed, the Argentine center-forward has established himself as the symbol of the club during his seven-year stint in Lombardy.

Furthermore, he has never shown any ambition to leave, suggesting he could finish his career at Giuseppe Meazza.

Lautaro’s winning goal against Atalanta on Sunday extended his goals tally for the club to a jaw-dropping 166.

Therefore, he’s now Inter’s fourth all-time leading goalscorer, trailing Roberto Boninsegna by five.

At 28, Lautaro can still play at the top level for at least half a decade.

With that in mind, it’s only reasonable to expect the skilled striker to hit a 200-goal landmark.

Already now, it’s hard to escape the proposition that Lautaro is a modern-day Zanetti figure – a captain defined not just by longevity, but by loyalty.
