Inter Milan manager Cristian Chivu has given his squad a day off on the eve of Wednesday’s Serie A clash against Lecce.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 45-year-old has done something unseen in Italy’s top flight.

The Nerazzurri dropped two points in Sunday’s mouth-watering home game against Napoli.

Indeed, they failed to capitalize on the leading position twice as Antonio Conte’s side grinded out a 2-2 draw at San Siro.

Despite going winless in another high-profile Serie A fixture, Cristian Chivu looks unfazed by Inter’s ‘big game’ issues.

Chivu’s side will return to action tomorrow with a must-win home match against perennial bottom-half strugglers Lecce.

However, Inter players will not train at Appiano Gentile today.

Indeed, the former Parma boss has given his squad a day off, allowing them to rest and prepare for tomorrow’s outing.

Therefore, the squad will reunite tomorrow morning.

With that in mind, Chivu has done something virtually unheard of in Serie A, prioritizing mental freshness over a pre-match training session.
