Serie A giants Inter Milan must intervene in the transfer market to make up for the loss of Denzel Dumfries.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri need to sign a new wingback to address the defensive emergency.

Denzel Dumfries will not return to action until the end of February.

In the meantime, Cristian Chivu must rely on the underperforming Luis Henrique, with Matteo Darmian still lacking match fitness.

However, the Italian veteran could start on the bench in tonight’s Serie A home clash against Lecce.

Henrique’s form has failed to inspire confidence, even though the Brazilian has started the last nine games in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Darmian has been in the pits since September, and Chivu cannot know how the 36-year-old will look after the injury.

Therefore, Inter would be wise to add to their wingback options in January.

Several players have been linked with a move to San Siro, including Marco Palestra, Brooke Norton-Cuffy, and Dodo.

Yet, Inter have done little to complete any of those signings so far.
