Serie A pacesetters Inter Milan are reportedly on the verge of signing Hajduk Split teenager Branimir Mlacic.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the San Siro giants have decided against including the youngster in their U23 squad.

Talks between Inter and Hajduk have reached advanced stages, with the official announcement expected soon.

Despite seeing their opening bid rejected, Cristian Chivu’s men have increased their offer to €5 million.

As a result, Branimir Mlacic is one step away from becoming a new Nerazzurri player.

Though Inter had initially considered sending Mlacic to Stefano Vecchi’s U23 team, they’ve eventually opted against that idea.

Indeed, the player and his father have never been enthusiastic about this prospect.

Competing in Serie C has not been an appealing option for the 18-year-old center-back, who wants to play at the highest level.

Therefore, Inter will let the Croatian starlet stay in Split on loan for the rest of the season.

On the other hand, Dinamo Zagreb prodigy Leon Jakirovic could join Vecchi’s side.
