The future of Yann Sommer at Inter Milan remains uncertain as the Swiss goalkeeper approaches the final months of his contract.
Sommer’s deal with the Nerazzurri expires at the end of June, and at present there are no indications that the club plan to offer the 37-year-old an extension.
As a result, a summer departure is increasingly plausible, with several options already emerging.
According to Swiss outlet Blick, via FCInter1908, one of those possibilities includes a return to FC Basel, where Sommer enjoyed some of the most successful years of his career.
The Basel-based club are reportedly considering bringing their former captain back from July 1 as they prepare for the potential exit of Marwin Hitz.
Inter Veteran Sommer Could Make Return To Basel

A move would carry strong symbolic value.
Sommer won four Swiss league titles during his first spell at Basel before moving on to the Bundesliga and later Serie A, where he has continued to perform at a high level despite his age.
This season, the Switzerland international has remained a regular presence for Inter, making 19 league appearances and adding to his international tally, which now stands at 94 caps.
His current market value is estimated at around €2.5 million.
Meanwhile, interest from abroad has not faded.
Clubs in Turkey, including Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, are also monitoring Sommer’s situation closely as the summer window approaches.
