Marcus Thuram and Yann Sommer failed to live up to expectations in last night’s Champions League clash between Inter Milan and Arsenal.

According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri stalwarts did not rise to the occasion.

Inter desperately needed all three points in their fourth Champions League showdown against the Gunners.

However, Mikel Arteta’s side avenged last season’s narrow 1-0 loss at San Siro with a thumping 3-1 victory.

As such, Cristian Chivu is still waiting for his first high-profile win in charge of the Serie A leaders.

Yann Sommer was one of Inter’s heroes in last year’s competition, helping his team reach the grand final with several outstanding performances.

Unfortunately, he failed to match those standards last night.

Meanwhile, Marcus Thuram continues to struggle for form since returning to action from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Indeed, the Frenchman has now failed to score in five consecutive Champions League appearances.

Despite demonstrating his strength in ruthless battles against Cristhian Mosquera, he never managed to put David Raya to the test.
