Walter Zenga believes Inter Milan would be wrong to offload underperforming winger Luis Henrique this winter.

Speaking to L’Originale via FCInter1908, he delivered his verdict on ongoing speculation linking the Brazilian with an early exit.

Inter Milan splashed out around €23 million to sign Luis Henrique from Olympique Marseille last summer.

Furthermore, they had to beat several top clubs, including Bayern Munich, to his signature.

Cristian Chivu had hoped the 24-year-old would be an ideal long-term replacement for Denzel Dumfries.

However, the former Botafogo star has failed to settle at San Siro.

Despite making 23 appearances in all competitions this season, Henrique is still waiting for his first goal in Inter colors.

More importantly, his performances have often failed to impress, throwing his future at San Siro into a corridor of doubt.

It’s also worth noting that the Nerazzurri are desperate to re-sign Ivan Perisic, which would further dent Henrique’s prospects.

“They sign Perisic, Luis Henrique leaves, and Dumfries will be back in a month,” Zenga said. “I thought Inter were signing Perisic to complete the squad.

“Personally, I wouldn’t let the Brazilian go, even if he gets whistled at San Siro.

“People don’t realize that he gives balance to the whole team.

“It’s true that Inter attack a lot down the left because they have Bastoni and Dimarco there,” the legendary goalkeeper added.

“Luis Henrique’s presence on the right provides balance. These are all those little nuances that coaches understand.

“That’s why he keeps starting, but people don’t get it and latch onto one player.

“I’ve watched Inter live many times, and maybe I don’t understand football, but he’s the player who has given balance to everyone.”

Finally, Zenga previewed Inter’s must-win UEFA Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund.

“A difficult one,” he claimed. “The German team have always played great football at home, especially going forward.

‘They have a lot of quality in attack. They have a wall of noise and a special atmosphere. It won’t be an easy game.

“But apart from Arsenal, even in the matches they lost, they never allowed the opposition to dominate, even in the Champions League, despite losing those games.”
