French strikers Ange-Yoan Bonny and Marcus Thuram faltered in Inter Milan’s 2-0 UEFA Champions League win at Borussia Dortmund last night.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the former failed to replace Lautaro Martinez, who started on the bench as a precaution.

With fatigue catching up with El Toro, Cristian Chivu decided to start Bonny alongside Thuram.

Despite Francesco Pio Esposito’s sterling performance in a 6-2 rout of Pisa, Chivu left the prodigious Italian teenager on the bench.

However, the Frenchmen failed to deliver the goods.

As Tuttosport reports, it felt like Bonny and Thuram were stepping on each other’s toes at Signal Iduna Park.

Indeed, Bonny delivered a rare bleak performance, failing to put Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel to the test.

The former Parma center-forward spent most of the game cut off from the rest of the pack.

Despite faring slightly better, Thuram was also below his high standards, maintaining a poor run of form since returning from injury.

On the other hand, Manuel Akanji impressed on his return to Dortmund.
