Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta delivered his verdict on the incident that marred yesterday’s clash against Cremonese.
Speaking to Sport Mediaset via FCInterNews, Marotta condemned violence, insisting the club will press charges against the culprit.
Cristian Chivu’s team strolled to a comfortable 2-0 victory at Stadio Giovanni Zini.
Indeed, Lautaro Martinez and Piotr Zielinski scored inside the opening 31 minutes to set up the Nerazzurri for the win.
Therefore, Inter ended the weekend eight points clear of second-placed AC Milan, who will take on Bologna tomorrow.
Furthermore, Chivu’s men have now won four consecutive league matches for the third time this season.
However, a late incident cast a shadow on Inter’s on-field heroics.
An unnamed Inter fan threw a firecracker onto the pitch, only a few meters away from Cremonese goalkeeper Emil Audero.
Fortunately for Inter, Audero was unscathed and refused to make theatrics that could’ve cost the visitors dearly.
Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta Delivers Verdict on Firecracker Incident

“It’s an unfortunate, terrible incident that must be condemned,” Marotta said after the game.
“It seems to have been an isolated act, and we will wait to see what the outcomes are.
“After that, we will also take a position from a legal standpoint.
“Thanks are also due to Audero for his professionalism, as he got back up, resumed his position in goal, and saw the match through to the end.”
Meanwhile, goalscorer Piotr Zielinski also backed the Nerazzurri president.
“These are unacceptable things,” he said. “They shouldn’t be seen. Someone could have been seriously hurt.”
This unfortunate incident has put Inter at risk of being fined both financially and disciplinarily.
Indeed, they could be staring down the barrel of a possible partial stadium closure, particularly the away section for upcoming matches.
In the meantime, Chivu’s team will take on Torino in midweek Coppa Italia action.

I was attending the game against Dortmund and our fans did same there, except the explosive didn’t reach the field. Also a torch was thrown… It’s really a shame, only savage fans do that nowadays, hopefully the dude or dudes will be indentified, no need for that on the pitch.
This could end with a loss and point deduction for inter and thus put Milan in the lead. If this happened and I knew the idiot who did it I’d make sure to make his life as miserable as possible.
Beppe..it was bub. Get him
one idiot could have ruined thew whole season. still, the question remains whether that was only one person or more, hope the facts will be established soon and the perpetrator(s) punished…
If Audero had decided not to continue after being struck, 3points would have been deducted from inter over one crazy fan that still think we are still living in the 18th century
Respect to Audero
