Inter Milan completed just two signings during the January transfer window, securing the services of Leon Jakirovic and Yanis Massolin.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri failed to address the most significant shortcoming during the winter transfer session.

Finding a reliable replacement for Denzel Dumfries was Inter’s highest priority in January.

However, the San Siro giants couldn’t catch a break, starting with the failed attempt to re-sign Joao Cancelo, who chose Barcelona instead.

Furthermore, their dream of landing Moussa Diaby collapsed on deadline day, while PSV Eindhoven never entertained the prospect of selling Ivan Perisic.

In addition to searching for Dumfries’ successor, Inter were also keen to reinforce the midfield department.

Therefore, they had opened talks with Liverpool over Curtis Jones’ move to Serie A.

Despite the Reds’ initial readiness to negotiate the transfer, they eventually decided to pull the plug on the deal.

As a result, Inter couldn’t allow Davide Frattesi to leave the club amid growing interest from Lazio and Nottingham Forest.
