Serie A giants Inter Milan have reportedly decided to purchase Swiss center-back Manuel Akanji at the end of the season.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri are ready to trigger a buyout clause in their loan agreement with Manchester City.

Manuel Akanji joined the San Siro powerhouse on deadline day last summer to replace Benjamin Pavard.

Furthermore, the 30-year-old has hit the ground running in Serie A, immediately becoming one of the pillars of Cristian Chivu’s defence.

Therefore, it’s unsurprising that the Italian giants are willing to spend €15 million to secure Akanji’s services permanently.

Akanji earns around €3.75 million net per season. However, he more than lives up to that salary with his performances on the pitch.

Indeed, he has locked down a starting berth at San Siro as his own, pushing Stefan de Vrij toward the fringes of Chivu’s squad.

As such, the Dutchman is likely to leave the club at the end of the season as a free agent.

The same applies to Francesco Acerbi and Pavard, whose future at Olympique Marseille is hanging in the balance.
