Thierry Henry insists Serie A surprise package Como play ‘better football’ than runaway leaders Inter Milan.
Speaking to CBS Sports Golazo via FCInter1908, the Arsenal legend slammed Nerazzurri boss Cristian Chivu.
Despite bringing Inter to the brink of another Scudetto, Cristian Chivu has failed to impress the iconic French striker.
The San Siro giants have taken Serie A by storm this season and are already boasting a massive ten-point lead over second-placed AC Milan.
With just 12 games left to play, the Rossoneri need a miracle to overtake their bitter rivals at the table’s summit.
Meanwhile, Como sit sixth in the standings, five points adrift of fourth-placed Roma.
Therefore, Cesc Fabregas remains hopeful of guiding the Lariani to a historic top-four finish in Serie A.
However, with Juventus also in the mix, it promises to be a daunting task.
On the other hand, Inter and Como will lock horns in a two-legged Coppa Italia semi-final tie,
Thierry Henry Insists Como Play Better Football than Inter Milan

Asked whether Inter’s Champions League exit matters, given their current position in Serie A, Henry replied: “No, it matters a lot. I’ve said it many times: Inter is first in Italy almost ‘by default.’
“We’ve been talking about this for a while. The team playing the best football in Italy right now is Como. You can discuss budget and squad quality, but the current reality is clear.
Last week, you asked me where Italian teams stand, and unfortunately, the situation is obvious. We’ll also discuss this with Alessandro, because the issue is always the same: Italian teams need to find themselves again.”
“Looking at a Bodo/Glimt–Inter match, one might think: ‘What a surprise!’ But watching the game closely, there really was no surprise.
One team played together, with the right attitude and everything needed to be competitive. The other appeared slow, lacked intensity, and failed to react against any opponent – even against Bodo/Glimt.
“Chivu will need to explain some decisions: why so many players didn’t play? Why were some substitutions made so late? It’s true that there was the Lecce match and the goal was to reach a +10 lead in the league – and now they are indeed +10.
“But if we talk about Serie A, there’s little to discuss: they’re top with a comfortable advantage. When it comes to the Champions League, however, questions are inevitable.
“Bodo/Glimt is a good team, no doubt. But Inter has lost its coach, and it’s not easy to restart with a new one. This isn’t an attack on Chivu: the question was whether he would face criticism. Yes, in the Champions League. Less so in the league, because the lead is substantial.”
Thierry Henry Draws Comparison Between Inter Milan Boss Cristian Chivu & Ex Manager Simone Inzaghi

Henry apparently believes that Inter would’ve beaten Bodo/Glimt had Simone Inzaghi stayed at the helm.
“Tactically, Inter is different. You no longer see that build-up with the three center-backs stepping into midfield, the movements that made them unpredictable.
“Simone Inzaghi’s Inter was ready for major European challenges, even if they sometimes struggled against lower-ranked teams. This team, however, seems to struggle against almost everyone, at least in Europe.
In the league, they continue to win, partly thanks to rotations, but this can make it harder to find cohesion and consistency. Tactically, this isn’t the same Inter as before.
“Should we judge Chivu solely for not going far in the Champions League? Perhaps not. But it matters who you lose to and, above all, how you lose. In Serie A, he’s at the top.
“In the Coppa Italia, he’s still in contention – he could even aim for a double. However, in the Champions League, questions will come, especially given how the group stage ended and the defeats, both home and away.”

henry is such a clown for attention. hes also sucking vinicius balls with alot of seed. why is he even on television. he should be carefull talking shi about chivu.
Henry is saying Bodo beat Inter so Como plays better football than every Serie A team including Inter.Fiorentina is in relegation beat Como in their own back yard what is Henry going to say about this.
literally no mention that Henry is an investor/owner in FC Como.
A bit biased I think.
It really should be disclosed.
Those pundits are hypocrites. Inter is the best team in serie a without any argument whatsoever and numbers support that. Football is a game of moments and if it wasn’t for Chivu completely throwing away the results in the first half by playing the likes of Acerbi then these “pundits” would have a different opinion. Over two legs if Inter take the matches seriously Como 100% gets eliminated. Even in the second leg these pundits completely ignore the gift of the season from Akanji which sealed the fate of Inter CL this season. I think between the two coaches Fabregas and Chivu the one who’s more stubborn is Fabregas which isn’t a good trait in a coach and can lead to disaster. Unlike Bodo Como won’t and don’t defend with 11 players inside the box and I don’t think any team can survive Inter’s 10+ corners without conceding goals which goes to show just how lucky Bodo were. Again football is a game of moments
If Acerbi play second leg, Inter won’t lose at home.Plus, Inter Milan reached last 2 finals because of Acerbi.Your favorite Bastoni always screwed up Inter in Europe. Now, akanji too. I hope Inter Milan send him back to Man City.
Acerbi has lost nearly even game he has started. His legs have gone to be able to play a high line with man marking.
FACT.
Nope you’re wrong 100%. Acerbi this season is a liability. Yes Akanji made a mistake but with Acerbi against teams that can counter attack it means the loss is guaranteed.
I do agree with the defence tho, they felt more stagnant from the beginning, those movements aren’t the same. In big matches Inter are more reactive, this has been the problem to some degree even with Inzaghi, they don’t play proactive/modern football against big teams. They can dominate technical teams physically in Serie A. But they can’t do that against high class opposition, at that point your technical football needs to be up to par.
You This Idiot Of A Man Henry If you don’t know What To Talk, keep quiet. This Is A Pure racism word directed to Inter And chivu. Inter That Thrashed como 4-0 is Who You Are Saying Are Playing Better Than Us. Just Because Inter Didn’t qualify for Last 16 is Not Why You Would Be Comapring us to como. Inter Is Not An Average Team so stop talking rubbish.
He’s not saying they are a better team but play nicer football. Which as an inter fan, I’m reluctant to agree. Our game plan relies on dimarco crossing to a crowded box or a counter attack, Both of which are not exactly “elegant” styles of play. The occasional long shot is nice though. The playstyle we have is what teams that have zero creativity rely on
Thats why our football is boring to watch. We do not have creativity and only score by getting random chances through crossing. The reason why Dimarcos stats look good is because we only use crossing as our path to scoring. Its a poor football to watch.
Bro look at numbers to support Henry claim. Inter is the best serie a team. Henry is talking BS and obviously he supports Como.
Henry is a shareholder of Como since August 2022.
He has a vested interest in the club.
He never disclosed this when he talks about Como.
People confused. Inter quality is no problem. inter was 10 in standings. The problem is Inter who play 3 defenders in the back does not know how to play it well. Only inzaghi is expert. You dont allow 5 goals from bodo. if chivu does not know how to play 3 in the back well, he should play 4 in the back against quality teams. He did not do well with bigger teams this season.
An idiotic comparison. Cristian Chivu has only been in charge of the senior team for 1 year. 4 months with Parma and now 8 months with Inter, while Simone Inzaghi has built his reputation for almost a decade in Serie A and Europe with Lazio and Inter. Even compared to Fabregas, Chivu’s experience managing the first team is still far from Fabregas’s. Fabregas has been with the first team for more than 2 years, including as an assistant. So far, Chivu has shown his best ability and I think he can be great in the future. And it’s important to remember that Chivu hasn’t dared to force the use of his mainstay formation, but only continued Inzaghi’s formation with slight adjustments.
sure. listen to a pundit and throw an existing manager under the bus.
thats basically what they are paid to do.
he sure can talk the talk, but apparantly, he failed to walk the walk during his time at monaco and montreal impact.
como literally has 0 italian players in their team. they are a disgrace. once nico paz is sold that team is DOOMED.
As much as I agree with TT, but currently Inzaghi is not with us. Chivu is the one who takes the big risk of his career to take over this team. He would be very comfortable in Parma. Show some respect to the courage. I am pissed with the team attitude, pissed of their fighting mentality, but this is his first year and he didnt get any player he wants to join other than Bonny. And Bonny performs not bad. So give him some time to grow, and maybe some new blood for his coaching philosophy.
as I wrote elsewhere, Inzaghi, with basically the same team (+ Dumfries but – Pio and Bonny) reached two UCL finals. so, basically, with the same shitty team, he had incomparably much more success, at least at the European level. To lose both matches against Bodo which comes from the city of 50,000 inhabitants and the budget of which is multiple times smaller than Inter’s, is a disgrace, to say the least. And not only did we lose, but we were completely outplayed.
Major difference between us and Como is that they completely turned to play with younger players with a couple of older players in which young players are the skeleton of the team. Plus they have young playmaker Paz who can create something out of nothing through the middle, while we don’t have anyone there. Dima is our main weapon with his crosses, right side is terrible this season, set pieces are solid and a couple of shots outside the box with Piotr, Dima and Hakan in half of the season in which he’s healthy. But play through the middle, far too weak there.
yeah, agreed. but problem is the management is refusing to learn from past mistakes which leaves us facing another disgraceful end to a good run and never capitalizing on our rivals weak seasons. The last few seasons we could have been racking up titles like JuBe did winning 9-10 scudetti, always reinforcing the team with world class players every season to achieve the maximum.
Instead we will be looking back at how could we even give away so many titles when we were superior un every aspect and end up humiliated. And, refusing to rejuvenate the squad!
Only know people realize that Inzaghi was doing alot of miracles with this squad.
Most of the players are overrated because of Inzaghi. We all saw their quality this year.
this would make sense if Inzaghi would’ve won the Scudetto back in 2022 and 2025 like Chivu is doing this year.
It’s way more nuanced than what you’re making it out to be.
Hard. Inzaghi wasn’t a great coach in my eyes playing only defence without any possession only to get demolished by psg in the finals. No trophy while playing boring football and also giving no minutes to any of our youth. worst manager if you ask me
What are yall on about. Chivu has a ten point lead in the league. The first leg of Bodo/glimpt was played in the attic circle on plastic turf against a team who’s season already ended and had nothing else to prepare for. It is a fluke game that caused the second leg to be played too desperately. That’s why, I believe, the finishing was so poor.
Inzaghi was fine. We managed to be in the running in the league but far from dominant. The champions league runs were fun but they we were very fortunate in most of the matchups leading to the finals where- if we have already forgotten, we got absolutely decimated by a team focused on nothing but that one game. Inzaghi’s tactics were very one-dimensional and were becoming less effective by the day.
We have a first year coach who has managed a transition and is leading the league by 10 points. Let’s try to be even just a little grateful, as fans.
I want to see some good football like Como. Good buildup plays and overall very good on the ball. Chivu make small changes to last season given how lack of support hes gotten from our management on our transfers. Next season will be a vig test gor him to dhow his football and the management better get the players Chivu wants. Also our youth is looking very strong we better start making use of them otherwise we will just get regress as the year goes.
We just beat Como 4-0. Do we want to watch tiki-taka every week and finish fourth or do we want to win trophies?
No I just don’t want to watch boring football all the time. All we do is pass to the side for a cross or back pass with every little pressure. We are not going to grow as a club if we never change.
I’m grateful to Inzaghi for keeping UCL dream alive as long as he could. As a fan, it was nice to see inter on big European stage regularly and made spring a bit more exciting. He has to deliver scudetto now
