Serie A heavyweights Inter Milan are reportedly determined to tie high-performing coach Cristian Chivu down to a new long-term deal.
According to Tuttosport via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri are looking to complete Chivu’s renewal in the coming weeks.
Beppe Marotta took a huge gamble when he appointed the 45-year-old as Simone Inzaghi’s successor last summer.
However, Marotta’s leap of faith looks set to pay off, with Cristian Chivu on the verge of winning the Serie A title in his first season at San Siro.
Indeed, Inter are boasting a ten-point lead over second-placed AC Milan ahead of Sunday’s derby clash.
Inter Milan Keen to Reward Cristian Chivu with New Deal
Chivu’s current contract expires in 2027, but Inter are looking to extend his stay at Giuseppe Meazza until 2029.
Furthermore, Marotta reiterated the club’s trust in the former Parma boss shortly after Inter’s heartbreaking Champions League elimination.
Despite bowing out of Europe at the hands of Bodo/Glimt, Inter have not lost confidence in the Romanian coach.
On the contrary, they seem convinced that Chivu is the right man to lead them forward.
