AC Milan beat Inter Milan in Sunday’s mouth-watering Serie A showdown in controversial circumstances.

During the latest episode of Open VAR with Mauro Tonolini, an audio communication surfaced, as reported by FCInter1908.

Sunday’s clash at San Siro produced a nerve-shredding finale.

Indeed, Milan entered the second-half stoppages boasting a narrow 1-0 lead, courtesy of Pervis Estupinan’s first-half goal.

However, referee Daniele Doveri created chaos in the final minutes.

First, he stopped the play for no good reason, denying Inter a last-gasp equalizer.

Then, he refused to award a penalty to the Nerazzurri, even though Samuele Ricci handled the ball inside the box.

It was an unintentional play, but Ricci did bring the ball under control with the help of his right arm.

Still, Doveri never considered pointing to the spot despite facing fierce appeals from the Inter players.

Furthermore, there was no intervention from the VAR booth.

In fact, the VAR officials immediately upheld Doveri’s on-field decision.

“Chest, nothing, nothing, nothing, all natural. That’s how it is, he’s playing football,” Doveri reportedly told his VAR colleagues.

Meanwhile, they replied: “Never, never [penalty]. Try to remove everything, come on. Absolutely, it’s in the body anyway, so it does nothing.”
