Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries is reportedly in contention for the starting lineup as the Nerazzurri prepare to host Atalanta at San Siro.

According to Sky Sport Italia via FCInterNews, the Dutch wingback could make his first Serie A start since November this weekend.

Denzel Dumfries suffered a nasty ankle injury during Inter’s 2-0 home win over Lazio five months ago.

However, he has recently returned from a lengthy layoff and is now ready to reclaim his place on the right wing.

Therefore, underperforming Luis Henrique could drop to the bench after another bleak showing in Sunday’s Milan derby.

Henrique’s poor defensive reaction allowed Pervis Estupinan to inspire AC Milan to a crucial 1-0 derby win last weekend.

As a result, Inter’s lead at the summit now stands at seven points, with ten games left to play.

Meanwhile, Cristian Chivu is reportedly willing to bench the former Marseille star in favor of the Dutch wingback.

Despite failing to make an impact after coming off the bench against Milan, Dumfries has emerged as a favorite to start on Saturday.

In addition to the 29-year-old, Chivu will also be able to call upon French striker Marcus Thuram.
