La Liga pacesetters Barcelona are reportedly eager to sign out-of-sorts Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni this summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo via FCInter1908, Los Blaugranas are targeting another high-profile deal, much like they did with Luis Suarez in the past.

Barcelona were vying for Suarez’s signature for years before finally securing his arrival in the summer of 2014.

Indeed, the Spaniards took advantage of the Uruguayan’s notorious ‘bite’ at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Suarez’s antics against Italy derailed his status at Liverpool, facilitating his mega-money transfer to Camp Nou.

Now, Hansi Flick’s men are now looking to pull off a similar deal for Alessandro Bastoni.

Bastoni’s reputation has taken a series of hits in recent months.

After becoming one of the most unpopular Serie A figures for his Derby d’Italia shenanigans, Bastoni sealed Italy’s fate in the World Cup playoffs.

Indeed, his first-half expulsion against Bosnia & Herzegovina resulted in the Azzurri’s heartbreaking defeat in Zenica.

Therefore, the 26-year-old may have to force his summer exit.

Leaving San Siro could be the best option for the former Atalanta man as he hopes to steer his faltering career back on track.
