Inter Milan manager Cristian Chivu is close to winning his first managerial title in Serie A in his maiden season at San Siro.
According to La Repubblica via FCInterNews, the 45-year-old is on the verge of joining an exclusive club of Serie A managers.
Beppe Marotta’s decision to appoint Cristian Chivu as Simone Inzaghi’s successor last summer raised a few eyebrows.
However, the Romanian coach has defied his lack of experience in senior management, bringing Inter to the brink of their 21st Scudetto.
Indeed, the Nerazzurri sit nine points clear of second-placed Napoli heading into the last six matches of the season.
Inter Milan Manager Cristian Chivu Set to Equal Impressive Serie A Feat
With Inter set to win the title, Chivu could become the second-youngest manager to lift the Scudetto after Antonio Conte.
Indeed, Conte was 42 when he led Juventus to his first Serie A title in 2012.
Furthermore, Chivu could become only the fourth manager in Serie A history to win the Scudetto before the age of 50.
In addition to Conte, Massimiliano Allegri and Roberto Mancini are the only other managers to achieve that feat.
While Allegri won the title with AC Milan in 2011, Mancini steered Inter to the throne in 2006.
He’s a great person and i like him alot but he’s still not very good in the tactics department.
Can’t wait for this great adventure with Mr Chivu!! Forza Inter!!!!
Chivu is winning the league whilst the Serie a level have decline. Serie a is weak and if that is the only ambition in the club well Marotta should leave. With him Inter will never won the Champions league which should be Inters main goal. Chivu still haven’t convinced me and waiting years for him to get good in Champions league will ultimately lead to failure. Lets see if he can win the league with a completely revamped squad? Destined to fail.
I don’t try to be negative, but the owner himself didn’t even try to win the Champions League.
They knew the limitations of the squad, following a batch of silver medals.
So the important thing was to win the league. We are on course to do that while playing some young players, dealing with injuries, green coach and a var fiasco.
I say its been an ok season.
Very excited to see what happens next.
And all the drama surrounding our club. Its all the media game.
The media will always stir some, but we cant fall for it.
Forza Inter
100%! let see what oaktree bring for marota to overhaul the squad.
Not convinced by Chivu either. Fact of the matter is, winning the Scudetto is the bare minimum with the squad at his disposal. Giant elephant in the room is still, how is he going to deal with direct competitors in Serie A and Champions League in the future. I don’t like how clueless team is against comparable opposition.
Also, if it weren’t for Dimarco and Lautaro’s phenomenal form, Scudetto might have been out of reach too. Never a good thing being overly reliant on a couple of players. Defense is still shaky. Not looking forward to Chivu’s second year.
Dude. Your negativity is off the charts. The italian league is in the state it’s in because of negativity and short-sightedness.
Inter have won trophies, been competitive in the UCL, and are building a sustainable future. Most clubs struggle while rebuilding while Inter is leading the league and building a future for not only the club but Italy as a whole. What more do you want? We can’t have the budget of Real Madrid without building a business foundation.
Happy for him, hopefully he can get players he actually wants this summer and for him to switch to his preferred formation. Like his pressing and how he got dimarco to gain his confidence back. Hopefully we can do better next season with the right moves because this season was shaky even if more successful than the last.
Great job. In beppe we trust. As i said in the summer. We’re almost there
in beppe we trust!! i’m down with this trust to beppe since he joined inter in December 2018
Of course. First order of business – drop mauro …that was wild. Poor toro played tons of games being kicked around on 4 yellow cards and not being able to say a thing. And the …rano had to play ST for the last few mins of a game.
Sometimes in the summer windows i dont fully agree with beppe, but then i remember…somehow he is always right. He will be missed when he retire one day. I hope its at least 10 years from now.
Beppe is the architect of this Inter’s success. Will be a sad day when he retires.
is not chivu fault with the team. hansi flick didn’t change to much of the philosophy at barcelona. Everyone at Barca played with their philosophy,(tik-taka) while at inter except lautaro and di marco, everyone else should be replaced in order to give a different direction. Chivu work very well on their mentality to become stronger while the team is playing 80% inzaghi era. did required a substantial changes to the squad. i didn’t like how inter have defeated barca last year. inter win with lack but barca was far better, sommer did the best match and inter was in the final without a good team.
I agree.
Mancini or 2005. Won at table.
