Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that the key to tomorrow evening’s Coppa Italia semifinal first leg against Juventus will be that the Nerazzurri not lose their heads.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, the 34-year-old stressed that the Nerazzurri cannot lose their calm and composure, and must simply play their football against the Bianconeri.

Inter face a massively important match in the context of their season tomorrow evening, as they will be aiming to bounce back from a disastrous run of three consecutive losses in the league, and four our of their last five.

If they can get a positive result against Juventus to put one foot in the final of the Coppa Italia, it would go a long way towards improving the mood and the trajectory of the season, with multiple important matches still to come across the month of April.

However, this will be anything but an easy fixture against a team who have already beaten the Nerazzurri on two occasions in the league, keeping a clean sheet on both occasions.

From the perspective of Mkhitaryan, calmness and serenity will be key.

The Armenian former Roma and Arsenal man had already suggested that a lack of calm was the Nerazzurri’s biggest problem in their loss against Fiorentina over the weekend.

He himself had missed a good chance in front of goal, and the midfielder attributed this erratic finishing to the players having too much adrenaline when the decisive moments arrived in the final third.

Against Juventus, Inter will have to be at their best, and Mkhitaryan feels that the thing that they will really need to do is simply keep their composure so that they can play the way that they want to.

“We have to have anger, sure, but we also have to play with calmness,” the 34-year-old stressed.

“We can’t be focused on the two losses that we suffered against Juve in the league and then go there an lose our heads,” he added.

“We just have to go there an play our game, and stay calm.”
