A pitch suited for water polo and not football, strikers that are able to make every goalkeeper look like a star, midfielders that seem to have forgotten they are allowed to shoot and defenders that don’t know how to mark on corners. This will be a long season.
Antonelli the former Milan player headed in the winner for Genoa in the 83rd minute after Jonathan forgot that he was supposed to defend during a corner kick. Unfortunately he wasn’t alone in that, Juan Jesus and Fredy Guarín were also spectators. Quite frankly it was embarrassing how easy it was for the Genoa player to head that ball in.
Incredibly enough though the game started well for Inter, Mazzarri had a 3-4-1-2 formation on the pitch with Ricky supporting the strikers Milito and Palacio. And unlike the last games Inter created chances, a lot of them. But both strikers seemed to be under a spell from Perin, they made him look like a world class keeper. As the game progressed in the heavy rain I think many of us were getting worried that all those missed chances would come back to bite Inter in the ass. Which they did.
My cousin jokingly always says, “if we just score one more goal than the opponent then we’ll win”. Simplistic but true, if you don’t capitalize on your chances you will be punished. And Inter this season is being punished hard.
There are so many things going wrong for this team that it is hard to know where to start. But clearly expectations on this team should be higher than this, losing against a poor Genoa side after creating all those chances is mind-blowing.
One question to you readers though. Some seem to be of the opinion that unless you play well and create opportunities a team cannot complain when the referee doesn’t give a clear penalty. Is it okay to ask for it this game for the clear handball in the Genoa penalty area?
Best: Ruben Botta positive impact when came on once again, unafraid and once again close to score a goal but saved by Perin. Hopefully he’ll be getting more minutes on the pitch in the coming games.
Worst: Ricky Alvarez injury, team lost most of it’s ideas when he left the pitch. Offensive maneuvers with him on pitch were very good between him and the strikers. Gave midfield a chance to join as well.
Honorable mention: That pitch and the ref were equally embarrassing.

Must create chances to score and Inter just do not create enough chances given their limited finishing abilities. The marking on Genoa goal was like an amateur team. Almost like they did it on purpose…hmmmm makes me wonder some times… The man of the match every week is the opposing keeper. Today we made him look awesome. Great effort by Botta but placing it anywhere else results in a goal. As it was he did nothing but further piss us all off more.
Untill today i never spoke about officiating, but now i start to believe that something happens!!!
I agree that must change many things inside the team, but the officiating must change too.For example, if Inter would take the advantage in the match,it would be easier to score one more goal, because Genoa would open their game, or it would be easier to keep 0-1 score or at least not to lose.
The pitch was horrible, but since we shared the same pitch, there is no point of singling it out as the cause for our horrendous display.
One more thing, the handball is not an obvious penalty.
We can blame anything but the field, the opposite are playing on the same terrain right? Indeed its shameful field yet its not the reason why we lost..
Every aspects in Inter are poor right now..
High Five!
i thought that you would blame ranocchia for that fuckin messed defense. where are all the rano haters here?
I am here. I hate him. Cannot blame him today but had he been on for the goal against he would have likely been slow to react and flat footed as the ball sailed in to the back of the net. He gets sold this week….mark it down.
My opinion on the officiating is that I think we’re letting it get to our heads a bit too much. Yes we haven’t received a penalty in ages, ok, let’s move on. Today, after the handball, way too many players just stopped and stared at the ref. Continue to play until the whistle blows. One of my biggest criticisms of Spanish futbol is how players rush the ref and complain. It single handedly ruins the game. Yes, I believe it was a penalty, however, I think we deserved to lose that game. As you said, we got punished. A plethora of chances, wasted by our players. All I’m saying is we should focus on something we can alter, e.g. our playing style, tactics, and mentality. Not the officiating. That is not in our hands.
Honestly, that handball was a tough call to make. I was very pleased with the officiating and most of their calls. That being said, the Serie A officials owe us 90 penalties before we are near being called even.
