For a couple of days now, Inter has had a new contract ready for Ivan Perisic. A contract that would mean a significant pay raise for the Croat. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Perisic can sign the new contract whenever he wants to and there has been no reaction from Manchester United and former Inter coach José Mourinho.

It pretty clear that we don’t want to sell him. It was Manure that tried to be cheap mofo by offering meager transfer fee because back then we were pressured by the needs to compile with ffp. If there’s a winner in this drama, they are Perisic and his agent.
I wouldnt call Perisic a winner, since he clearly wants to join United. But ofcourse that insane 6m salary and a 4 year contract sweetens the deal for him. If he accepts that then he can basically retire in mind, since he obviously wont be going anywhere for the next 4 years for sure.
In any case, its not over yet, i have a feeling this transfer saga will drag on for quite some time yet.
I can’t blame Perisic really. He won’t be at his current level for a long time. What he wants is that last fat pay to ensure his financial securities. But i agree, the transfer to manure or maybe chinese clubs is still possible. Maybe Perisic becoming a beast after the new contract, martial got long term injury and his cover is shit, with those situations, they might be forced to get back to him.
Having secured Matic’s services, Man Utd aren’t in a hurry to acquire Perisic. This is the scenario I feared when we seemed too greedy to reject a 45M offer.
Perisic is valued at 30M, and 45M ain’t that low, especially when we’d sell at 50M. Now we have to sweeten Perisic’s contract, and his value is likely to decline next summer also. It’s a lose-lose situation for Inter.
