Luciano Spalletti was interviewed by Premium Sport after the win against Crotone stating that: “Today it was not an easy match. Our players were very good to adapt to something different which showed in our attitude, 30 degrees, a very dry pitch, the strong wind in the first half and a very slow match. Crotone is used to throwing long balls and Budimir is perfect for this type of match. After the 2-0? After the first goal, I didn’t celebrate. After the second goal, I stuck my tongue out to the co-workers, I did not do any ugly gesture to no one.”
“The standings are not important. There is still a long way to go as 34 matches are left and we must try to win as many as possible of them. With a different result, Eder would have been brought on. Our intentions must be like this, we must not impress ourselves with positive or negative situations. We should have been faster in the creative phase. Crotone tried to tie the match in the middle of the pitch. We were three against two in midfield, we would have insisted there and then go out on to the wing. Little quality but the personality was all there. Skriniar? I’ve already said it, he is an outstanding footballer, perfect, always concentrated, good with the ball and very physical. A player I’ve known and I trust”.

skriniar very ambitious about his goal, kinda like david luiz, hungry to score. great mentality.
The point is we don’t have Neymar or Messi to break down opposition like crotone but we do have personallities( Perisic &Icardi) .Always good to have a defender who is good with the ball because they can deliver when the time is right.
And we had a great Mario, at least when he was played on the he right wing he woke up and was everywhere!
I didn’t see much personality, we were unmotivated and arrogant and thought the opponent would just give is the 3 points. The first goal was lucky as hell and the second came after they threw themselves up front to try and score. Gagliardini and Candreva were absolutely dreadful, the rest simply didn’t give their best.
totally agreed , that was luck no more , we did nothing to deserve it
i think its the temperature, i checked the weather it was 34C avg temp at that time in crotone, so its really possible that the temp to increase into above that during the match.. not only us, but crotone made plenty of wrong simple passes and had lots of leg cramp players.. its hard to play in such a hot weather
It was one of those early afternoon matches that I personally despise, every time the players look half asleep and not really into it. But they’re still professionals and paid the big money, they shouldn’t lack concentration so much. If Handa weren’t so amazing we could have lost.
Agree, but this was one of those typical games we would have lost one year ago – one of them where one of our defenders or central midfielder would have lost concentration making Crotone score and us loosing. We need to give them credits for always keeping concentration and for bringin home the three points also on a off-day, that’s what great teams do: win even when things aren’t working!
In every game you can see Perišić getting pissed at Nagatomo haha
haha
Cause he is $hit. Blind as tuck. I feel him.
You have to give credit to Dumbo, he does position himself really well and he runs like a horse. Which is good for Candreva cause they have a good understanding. But then again nothing they do on the right flank really works, so in the end of the day all that running and effort is for nothing. They defend well at least. Dumbo has improved in that category. Still can’t cross to save his life tho.
