Inter coach Luciano Spalletti will have to make big changes to the line up against Chievo Verona this weekend due to suspensions and injuries. It is believed that Andrea Ranocchia will be used in place of the suspended Joao Miranda but now Joao Mario may also get another chance due to the injury of Matias Vecino since his last start against Bologna.

The Portuguese man has fallen down the pecking order in Spalletti’s squad and so rumours have started about a possible departure in January. Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport emphasises that “Inter’s midfield was often and willingly a game within a game” as the players vied for a position but variable factors such as Joao Mario’s tonsillitis before the Derby della Madonnina caused a last minute change to the line up with Roberto Gagliardini taking his place and since then, Roberto has performed well enough to not give Joao Mario another chance.

This may be a turning point for the young star who Inter paid forty million euros for to Sporting Lisbon, roughly fourteen months ago.

Furthermore, Joao Mario was also granted the number 10 shirt which also could be a heavy burden. Now only he can turn around his fortunes, with the risk of being labelled as a flop.
