As part of tonight’s match-day programme, Inter legend Evaristo Beccalossi spoke on his legendary goal against Cagliari way back in the 1980/81 season.

“I took the ball in the midfield and scored from outside the box with my weak foot. I think it was the best goal I ever scored in my career with my weak foot,” he said.

Beccalossi, who played for Inter between 1978 and 1984, then recalled the team from 1981/82 Coppa Italia winning season.

“That team was unbelievable, I remember that in the Coppa Italia we had a comeback victory against Roma. Nobody believed that we could go all the way except us and then we raised the trophy at the end of the year.”

Beccalossi was a left footer during his playing days and then recalled some memorable other left footed players to have donned the Nerazzurri shirt.

“Mario Corso is the best. He had a way of dealing with the ball that I’ve never seen anywhere else, he was a great reference point for me. El Chino Recoba is second, seeing him was a real joy.”
