Noted agent Dario Canovi thinks it is not possible for Inter to sign Real Madrid’s Croatian international Luka Modric when the transfer window reopens in January he told Italian media outlet TMW.

Canovi stated that: “As Real Madrid is going, I think the attempt from Inter to sign Modric would not succeed, Real is already suffering after the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo, let alone if they lose the best European midfielder.”

The Modric-Inter saga rumbled on in the final few weeks of the summer transfer window with reports that Luka Modric was desperate to join his three Croatian teammates, Ivan Perisic, Marcelo Brozovic and Sime Vrsaljko.

However it seemed only a distant pipe dream as Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, put a block on any transfer as he did not want to leave his star midfielder in the same transfer window he lost Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus and Zinedine Zidane as Manager.

Modric was recently named FIFA best player and UEFA best player over the last season, having been named as the best player of the World Cup over the summer in Russia.
