At the “Sole 24 Ore Sport Business Forum,” Alessandro Antonello, CEO of Inter, confirmed that it is just a case of paperwork being signed before Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta becomes an Inter director.
Firstly however he spoke on the San Siro and recent announcement that the Milanese clubs are to work together.
“The two clubs are committed to working together to give the city of Milan an infrastructure that is at the level of the largest cities in Europe. The work is at the beginning, but the important thing is that the climate between the two clubs is positive. We have also seen with the Municipality, there are all the conditions to proceed quickly. This project is fundamental both for the clubs and for the city.”
He proceeded to speak on the gap between Inter and Juventus.
“The growth of the club has been part of the strategic project since Suning acquired the company. The appointment of Steven Zhang as president seals what Suning wanted to show from the beginning. The gap with Juve is closing and the results are coming too, and today we are playing the Champions League group stage. The investments we want to make, such as the stadium and the sports centre, are important. There are all the conditions for the strategic project to move forward to reduce the gap not only from Juventus, but also from clubs like Napoli that are doing very well, there is still a lot of work to do.”
He concluded by discussing Marotta.
“As we have always said, anyone who can contribute to our project with experience to achieve the goals we have set ourselves is welcome, Beppe Marotta is a great director, at this stage we have to wait until there is the signatures until we can say that things are done.”
