Former Inter, Lazio and Manchester midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron gave an exclusive interview to Milano based Gazzetta dello Sport speaking on a wide variety of issues, including the Mauro Icardi situation at Inter.
“I don’t know exactly how this mess started, but, being a club President myself, I would say that the club must come first and should always be respected.”
“The damage is already done, but it would be enough for Mauro to apologize before he starts playing again. Then at the end of the year a decision can be made on his future. Football is a strange game, it’s always best to stay on good terms with clubs because, one day you’re a step away from leaving and then the next you end up staying for the rest of your career”
Veron speaks with experience in this scenario as he was originally loaned to Inter from Chelsea and ended up staying for another two seasons, going on to win a number of titles with the club.
Following this, the ex-midfielder also ended up returning to the club where it all began in Argentina, Estudiantes de La Plata, as player and now President, in his retirement.
